Wild Earth Stoaker Edition Pinot Noir 2023

$43.00

This delicious Pinot Noir is all about fun with no pretence! It has an intriguing nose of violets, cherries, blackberries and baking spice.  Red fruit and spice continue on the concentrated palate.  The powdery tannins give a mouth-filling sensation with a bright, lingering finish.  Light on tannin and big on flavour, this is a brilliant wine for pairing with platters, fish and lighter meats.  It is also fantastic for picnics and daytime barbeque.  Try it slightly chilled and you won’t be disappointed.  A special no-frills, full-thrills wine from an excellent vintage, that will age gracefully for 7+ years.

Vintage notes
The 2022-2023 growing season was relatively warm overall with “normal” spring weather leading to a drier-than-average summer. Weather at flowering was warm and dry resulting in excellent yields and high quality. January was warm and dry, followed by a welcome rain event in February and then a brilliant, dry, warm March. It was overall drier than 2022 but had a similar warmer feel to it.

Wine making notes
We’re proud to present our third Stoaker Edition Pinot Noir. The grapes that created this beautiful wine came from established vineyards in Pisa (40%) and Gibbston (60%). The fruit was hand-harvested at optimal ripeness on the 8th, 22nd and 24th April 2023.   Two ferments went into the wine with an average of 22% whole clusters in the fermentation which aid the tannin structure and aromatics of the wine. The ferments were punched down daily with the total time on skins ranging from 21-32 days. The wine was 100% tank-fermented and aged for approximately 10 months on light lees. Our winemaker, Jen Parr, selected exceptional fruit from 3 vineyards in Central Otago to create a fun and highly drinkable wine that can be served slightly chilled.

This vegan wine is unfined and unfiltered.
